We’re on this earth for the shortest time –
so paint that picture,
pen that rhyme.
Make that table;
mend that chair;
wear pretty clothes;
braid your hair.
Smile each day.
Contain your pain;
welcome sunshine after rain.
Drink in scenes of nature’s splendor –
ban that frown and that ‘bender.’
Stop and open wide your eyes,
for there is much that will surprise…
And when at last your life is spent
(no time then to regret or repent)
let them plant a sign:
‘I smelled the roses’
And stick it near your upturned toeses!
